Video@CDL is an award-winning production team at the Center for Distributed Learning and we are responsible for maintaining the videos for online classes here at UCF. This includes content creation, audio and video capture, and distribution. Video@CDL offers a wide range of multimedia production services and project development. While our main goal is to maintain video support for UCF’s online courses, we also partner with on and off campus organizations on special projects. Our team has nearly 60 years of combined experience in the television, film and video industry. Our fun, innovative, and multi-faceted producers are here to help faculty meet the ever-growing demand for online video at UCF.
Dale Fakess has 30 years of experience working in educational video, television news, and commercial production. He began his career in 1974 as a still photographer for the United States Navy, working with an array of small, medium, and large format cameras. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio-Television/Film in 1980 from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, he went to work for his alma mater. As an award-winning Media Coordinator for UCF, Dale has produced, filmed and edited over 200 marketing and promotional videos and documentaries, and has directed several live television programs for the university. He has also taught Television Production and Production Techniques courses for the UCF Nicholson School of Communication Radio-Television program. In 2005, Dale produced the award-winning documentary short, “Walking in Michelangelo’s Footsteps,” which featured the work of internationally renowned artist, Don Reynolds. In 2007 he co-created the UCF Television documentary series “The Gallery”, which received Suncoast Emmy Awards in 2008 and 2009. In 1982, Dale began working for Orlando ABC affiliate, WFTV Channel 9—a position he still holds today. His functions at Channel 9 have included Cameraman, Floor Director, Master Control Director, Audio Production, and Promotional Video Editor.
George David Lopez has over 20 years of experience working in documentaries, feature films, shorts, corporate instructional video, fund-raising media, television news, and commercials. He graduated from Fitchburg State University with a B.S. in Communications Media and then served in the United States Air Force as Combat Cameraman. During his military service he received several awards and recognition for his on-the-ground camera work and training video productions as well as the NATO Medal during Operation Joint Forge. As a military veteran, George became a producer, director, videographer, editor, visual effects and motion graphics artist for clients such as Fox 35 News, Orange TV, Universal Studios, Walt Disney World Fine Arts Photography, FEMA, Women in Film, Florida Sporting News, Variety Children’s Charity, NEWH, Jewish Impact Films, and the UCF College of Medicine. He took the opportunity to pass on his knowledge as a Course Director at Full Sail University teaching editing and visual effects and as the Film Director at the F.I.R.S.T. Institute where he developed and oversaw their film program. George enjoys donating his time to charitable causes and most recently was involved with the NFL Alumni Association of Central Florida, sitting on their board as Media Director.
Aaron Hosé is an award-winning producer, editor and videographer with over 15 years in the international film and video industry. His productions for regional television have earned him three Suncoast Emmy Awards and six nominations between 2008 and 2014. Aaron is a graduate of the Valencia College Film Technology Program, and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Central Florida. As lead video producer for UCF’s Center for Distributed Learning, Aaron manages the production of engaging, custom-made HD video content for the web and e-learning applications.
Aaron has amassed a diverse body of work in the public and private sectors, for clients such as the American Automobile Association, T-Mobile, University of Florida, COBHAM, FIS Global, the PGA Tour Shops, Brooks Brothers, Florida Hospital, and the Government of Aruba. As an independent filmmaker, Aaron also produces and directs award-winning documentaries that have been featured at film festivals around the world.
Tim has worked at UCF since 2003. He was born and raised in Maryland and moved to Orlando pursing higher education, where he completed degrees in Recording Arts and Film. Tim is currently working towards a Master of Fine Arts. With this diverse background, he is able to thrive in various roles and responsibilities across the entire production spectrum. He has been privileged to provide technical and artistic leadership for a number of projects and initiatives and a number of award-winning videos, both live-action and animated. He is passionate about music, film and technology, and is inspired by those fields to bring the same level of artistry and excellence into products focused on education.
